AutoCAD (1982)

Historical Background: AutoCAD is based on the drafting software program originally developed by AutoDesk, known as MicroCAD until 1981. The first commercially available version of AutoCAD, a DOS-based app, was released in late 1982. In the original AutoCAD, the design of a drawing is performed on the drawing area of the screen. A base plane is first drawn at the default origin, and then the default elevation is applied to it.

In late 1983, Autodesk purchased the AutoCAD technology and name and now owns and is the leading provider of this software. Autodesk continues to evolve AutoCAD, offering updates through its annual subscription service. Some new features include surface modeling, enhanced image editing, parametric drawing, direct editing of blocks and objects, 2D imaging technology, and Web-based computing. In the past few years, Autodesk also introduced the free online AutoCAD Community and AutoCAD LT Community sites, and the free AutoCAD Mobile app. AutoCAD continues to be used in areas such as architecture and engineering, and electrical and mechanical drafting.

AutoCAD 2010 is a leading CAD program that has been in continual development since 1998. In 2010, Autodesk is developing the next-generation AutoCAD Technology with its UltraHD mobile work environments and Autodesk 360 cloud services, and plans to have the technology implemented in AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT in 2013. Autodesk claims that the next-generation AutoCAD will produce an unprecedented level of design quality and allow unprecedented workflows on all platforms.

Features and Capabilities: AutoCAD is a 2D or 3D drafting and design software. AutoCAD is a bitmap editor and can work with 2D and 3D objects. It supports blocks, graphical blocks, and block primitives. It also supports surfaces, cutaways, shading, and text styles. The drawing components that are available in AutoCAD include line, polyline, arc, spline, ray, circle, ellipse, freehand, rectangle, and text. They can be modified and altered as needed in the drawing. Objects can be named and stored in the drawing as standard blocks or they can be used to create parametric blocks. The Object Snap and Direct Selection features allow the user to draw objects using a point or line. The result is a precise edge or face with parallel sides. Additionally, all drawings

Alternative coordinate systems
AutoCAD LT is limited to the x,y,z,e- and r-axis as defined by the UCS, which is the Global Datum. However, there are two main alternatives to the standard x,y,z,e- and r-axis defined by the Global Datum:
Albers equal-area projection
Azimuthal projection

Albers equal-area projection is an equal-area projection based on the natural logarithmic grid of the ellipsoid model of the earth. This projection is a common projection for plotting maps in geographic information systems (GIS) and is commonly used by geographic information system software products like Google Earth. It is also a common projection for NASA maps of Earth. The number of cells along each axis is equal and thus this projection is also called square-equal or square-equal-area projection.

Azimuthal projection is an orthographic projection that flattens the Earth onto a 2D plane so that straight lines are parallel to the plane of projection. The horizontal plane is tilted by the Earth’s rotational axis at an angle equal to the inclination. The vertical axis is perpendicular to the horizontal axis. The latitude lines converge towards the equator, and they converge at a rate dependent on the latitude.

Other approaches to building a true 3D coordinate system include:
Helmert parameters

Common 3D coordinates are x,y,z orthogonal and mutually perpendicular. This results in a set of linear equations. In general, solving linear equations with three unknowns is problematic. However, in the case of x,y,z, e- and r-axis, x and y are related by a linear transformation and z and e are related by a linear transformation, resulting in a set of four linear equations. Solving the equations for x,y,z, e and r is straightforward. However, this transformation requires the assumption that the ellipsoid model of the earth is the best approximation for the topography of the Earth.

No-U-turn theorem

Euclidean geometry and geometry with parallel lines and planes play a prominent role in projective geometry. Projective geometry is a geometry where the parallel postulate, which allows one line to be constructed as the extension of another line through a point, does not hold true.

The parallel postulate is satisfied in Euclidean geometry. In projective geometry, however, the parallel post

First and foremost, I just want to say that I love this product and all its respective amazing features, but the constant updates and the sheer complexity of things can get really overwhelming to a beginner like myself. And even when I did install everything, everything I did was just a total mess. I remember checking out some videos and I was trying to figure out how everything worked, and I kept getting stuck. I just can’t figure out how to use the program. So far I’ve tried following the installation instructions here and trying to figure out everything on my own, but I just don’t know where to start.
So my question is: How do I use this program to it’s full capabilities? Do I just follow the step-by-step instructions on the website? I mean, there are so many steps, I feel like I would never finish the installation and I’m afraid that once I do, I’ll forget everything I did. I’m just really new at this so please bear with me.

I started out with Autodesk Training – “Autocad 2016 – Fundamental Training”
… and it basically gave you the skills to get the basics out of Autocad.
And then you can start searching for tutorials and books about Autocad.
The help files in Autocad can be very sparse…
But the most helpful Help files are the ones that you can find in your own Help Files when you press the F1 key.

“Isn’t this a funny place you picked to meet? It looks like a stable for horses.”

You start in the underground, in a small room that looks like a room for a full-sized horse. This is the room where you meet Darrel the horse, a white one with black spots on his hindquarters and a red shirt.

Next is the greenhouse, which is just a big room with plants all over the walls and ceiling. The greenhouse contains numerous talking animals, mostly dogs and birds.

You find out from the talking animals that you are supposed to join the “Doggy Justice Gang” (DJG). You meet the band, “Hi, my name is Doogie and this is my band: the ‘DJG’. What’s your name, and why are you wearing a frock?”

“I’m not really a dog, I’m a moth.”

“A moth? What’s that?”

What’s New In?

Model Organizer:

Organize your 3D design projects more efficiently than ever with a new Model Organizer. You can create and organize models for different projects without the need to switch between toolbars. The Model Organizer adds a new toolbar to the ribbon, and offers many more options and customization features. (video: 4:05 min.)

3D Curve Graphs:

Keep your drawing data in one place, when connecting points or lines of a path. Use the 3D Curve Graph to graphically show important aspects of a path, for example, when outlining large curves. (video: 4:05 min.)

Vector-based Layers:

CAD has always allowed you to work with layers that you can compare to or combine with other layers. The Vector-based Layers in AutoCAD allow you to create and manage multiple non-visual layers, and switch back and forth between them at any time. (video: 2:05 min.)

CAD Improvement:

Take advantage of new toolbars, ribbons, and features, plus: better collaboration, improved performance, and new tools for different workflows. (video: 1:05 min.)

Automatic repair:

Create a template for the missing feature on a drawing, and automatically correct the missing features in all your similar drawings. (video: 1:05 min.)

Enhanced attributes in the Properties palette:

Get a clear and precise view of what’s inside your drawings with the enhanced attributes in the Properties palette. It shows you which of your properties are linked to geometric and non-geometric items, and which are automatically updated when you change the geometry. (video: 1:05 min.)

Improved layout of the Properties palette:

Use the new layout of the Properties palette to quickly select properties, and view all the properties together in a clear and precise view. (video: 1:10 min.)

Mate improved collaboration and communication:

You’ll get up to date status updates, and more easily share with your team when you’re working together on the same drawing. Make sure that the status of a drawing is always the same as the last change that you made. (video: 1:15 min.)
